MEETING NOTICE
The next meeting of MIFDI will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 hosted by the Burlington Fire Department courtesy of MIFDI member Chief Andrew Connerty. We will meet in the training room of their Station 2 located at 114 Terrace Hall Ave near Middlesex Turnpike. MIFDI last met at this location for our February 2024 meeting.
The training program will be a presentation on EMS for animals rescued from house fires and basic treatment that should be provided including administration of oxygen using masks designed specifically for animals. For those who own pets know that they are very much part of peoples family. It doesn’t take a lot of smoke for a small animal to be overcome so we should make every attempt to save the family pet. Seeing a firefighter carrying an unconscious cat or dog out of a house fire can be very high profile media incidents as well so just leaving the animal on the front lawn will not reflect well on the fire service. We will also be briefed on “Nero’s Law” which was adopted in Massachusetts to allow EMT’s to provide treatment and transport of Police Canines.
SCHEDULE:
0930 Coffee, 1000 Presentation, 1130 Business Meeting, 1200 Lunch (off site)
